Incredibly Rare Antique Gold & Crystal Tibetan Phurba Dagger
It has taken years to come across this item. It is a very rare and highly detailed Gold Plated Phurba Dagger of Bonpo Shamans in the Himalayan region between Kathmandu Nepal and Tibet. This dagger is practical a myth. I have been hearing about Phurba Daggers of such beauty and detail, but until recently have never seen one. And what a wonder it is! It has extraordinary fine craft in it s Ornamatation, Deities, Gold work, and Gemstones. Each small detail is exquisitely rendered. Even more amazing is the crystal Vajra / Dorje that connects the upper and the lower portions. Quite an appropriate conductor of energy. The top is also crowned with a crystal Vajra. Age cannot be determined because the source had no details. From my own experience I would guess it s quite old. It has a slight curve. I m not sure if this was intentional or it has bent with age. It seem to be appropriate. Repairs have been done on each end of the Vajra at the narrowest points. You can observe a very small layer of epoxy. I put this to strengthen, as it had some slight cracking. It s hardly noticable.
Phurba Daggers have a long and shrouded history. No one is sure of the origins. They have parallels in many cultures.
